LoRa, a 'long range-low power' radio wireless communication technology was developed in 2009, and after 2015 it is standadized as LoRaWAN protocol by LoRaAlliance organization. Initialy it targeting the metering industry and aimed at adding wireless communication capabilities for gas, water and electricity meters. The technology is continued developed for benefit the IoT ecosystem globally. The ability to transmit modbus protocol is open the opportunity to be widely applied in industrial monitoring and control applications and to be integrated to the existing system. Emerging of LoRa embedded sensor transmitters and control elements will simplify and flexiblify the installation of field instruments and significantly will reduce the cabling cost. Site specific characteristic such as oil, gas, electicity, water transmission plant, coal & minerals mining site will very suitable with the LoRa implementation. And even for power plant and other similars has the same opportunity to gather the benefits.
LoRa (LPWAN) frequency band for Indonesia is between 920 – 923 MHz as regulated by Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information.
